I Am
by Tanya Cabral

No one really knows me
Or who I am inside,
It's not as if they care
What secrets I may hide.

I present myself to others
As what they'd like to see,
After all, who would notice
If I chose to act like me?

You might think that I'm a coward
Hiding behind a mask,
But if you wish to know me
You only have to ask.

I don't think that I'm perfect
Or any better than the rest,
I just chose to play a part
And do what I think's best.

It's not as if I'm afraid
Of what people think of me,
I know the person that I am
Is the one I'll always be.
